Crash Course #3: Andreas Trabesinger - Grant Writing for Pop-Up Projects
mar., 3 novembre 2026 à 17:00 — 19:00
Andreas Trabesinger founded and runs Reinschrift Science Communication, which he set up in 2012 to help researchers find the story behind their work and tell it clearly. He trained as a physicist and holds a diploma and a PhD from ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). He was then a postdoctoral researcher at UC Berkeley and ETH Zurich, working on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with about 40 research articles in journals including Science and PNAS. In 2005 he was on the team that launched Nature Physics, where he spent seven years as associate and then senior editor. Since then he has helped researchers prepare proposals for Horizon Europe, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), and for private funders such as the Simons Foundation and the Wallenberg Foundation. He teaches scientific writing at the University of Basel and has also taught it at the University of Fribourg and the Scuola Superiore di Catania.

mar., 13 octobre 2026 à 13:00 — lun., 12 octobre 2026 à 12:30
Online
We will gather informally for 1 hour to develop needs together in tables of 2-3 people.
Programme
13:00 – 13:05 · Introduction Welcome from the AI Hub. The hackathon: ~50 participants, 6 challenges at Campus Biotech on 6–7 November, teams mixing clinicians, engineers and researchers, and challenges drawn from the submitted needs. 13:05 – 13:10 · Why a library of needs 100 needs or more, as different from one another as possible. 13:10 – 13:25 · Need sprint in teams of 3–4 Everyone writes on their own first. Then each team picks its 5 strongest needs and sharpens them, and their authors enter them on the platform. 13:25 – 13:30 · Report-back Each team reads out its most unexpected need. 13:30 – 13:50 · Deep dive on one need The team picks one need and documents it: first idea, existing data, skills, constraints, evaluation. 13:50 – 14:00 · Report-back and wrap-up
